Book Updates: Subtle Resistance

I can’t believe it’s here! I am prepping to launch my book! The story and behind-the-scenes peek at my publishing journey.

The Story –

It was Christmas morning. Wrapping paper and opened gifts littered the living room. The puppy was enjoying destroying a box stopping only to look up at the nearby cat watching with disapproval. We all sat on couches in our jammies wrapped in blankets with the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls still hanging in the air. Jim looked at me with a gleam in his eyes, “Now its time for Momma’s BIG present!” The kids perked up excited and in on the secret.

I was handed a medium box that was suspiciously light. I unwrapped it to find my EReader. “Umm.. Okay.” I raised by eyebrows in confusion.

“Open up the book library.” Jim said.

And there it was… Subtle Resistance with a cover designed with my blog color pallate and my name on the cover. I turned page after page to see the work I had been stuggling over for the last 2 years formatted and on the digital page. Tears immediatly clouded my vision. I was at a loss for words.

Jim explained that he took my finished manuscript and formatted it for Ebook and for print. It was a project he had been quietly working on for months. Mary (majoring in graphic design) created the cover.

My book project that had stalled out and caused me so much grief was suddenly propelled forward with an easy finish line in sight. It took over a week for it to sink in. So many feels…! 😮🥲🤗

I often comment on how compassionate and supportive my husband is but this is just another example of how amazing Jim is. This book has felt like a group effort the whole way but with Stacie gone, the publishing path suddenly became a very overwhelming solo journey. His willingness to step in and do the work on these last steps towards self-publishing has made this work into something tangible.

It has moved from a Word Doc to the real world in a physical copy I can hold and a digital one I can swipe and tag.

🎉 Very exciting!!
